As part of our commitment to meaningful and active participation in the community our stores provide ongoing assistance to a wide range of local community groups including:
Schools & kindergartens
Local sporting groups
Service clubs (Lions, Rotary etc.)
Local community groups that assist the disadvantaged
Local health & wellbeing

Hands-On Support
Bunnings preference is to support local community groups by providing hands-on assistance with their projects. Wherever possible our teams take the opportunity to get out into the community and help with grassroots projects, like assisting with garden makeovers and providing D.I.Y. support. We also regularly donate products for community activities including raffles and fundraising events.
Requests for hands-on support should be made in writing on the community or charitable organisation’s original letterhead, and sent to your nearest Bunnings store, to the attention of the Activities Organiser.
Apologies, our in-store activities are temporarily suspended, this includes Family Nights & D.I.Y Workshops.
Sausage Sizzles and Fundraising Opportunities
NSW Update
In line with updated government advice, sausage sizzles will resume at our Byron Bay, Ballina, Tweed Heads and Lismore stores from Friday 9 April.
QLD Update
In line with updated government advice, sausage sizzles will resume for stores located in the Moreton, Logan, Greater Brisbane, Ipswich and Redlands regions from Saturday 10 April.
D.I.Y. Workshops and In-store Activities
Bunnings team members regularly conduct D.I.Y. Workshops for local community groups, like schools and kindergartens, nursing homes and hospitals.
Our teams can head out and visit a community group, or welcome a community group into the D.I.Y. area for a workshop.
Workshops are tailored for the needs of each community group and can include gardening, craft, woodwork, water and energy saving activities, as well as kids activities.
Please contact the Activities Organiser at your local Bunnings store to discuss how the team might be able to support your community group.
Some Highlights
Support for Australian Police Charities
In recognition of National Police Remembrance Day, 29th September, Bunnings will donate over $250,000 to Police Legacy charities across Australia and the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation to support their important work.
FrogID Program
We have partnered with the Australian Museum on their FrogID Program. Bunnings’ goal is to engage with local schools by building a frog pond to provide frogs with a safe home and raise awareness around the importance of having frogs in our environment. Frog calls can be recorded using the Australian Museum’s FrogID app. Check out the FrogID webpage for more information or our ‘How To Build A Frog Pond’ page here. Schools are welcome to contact the Activities Organiser at their local store to discuss this program.
Rural and Regional Support
Thanks to community generosity over $1.25 million was fundraised for Rural Aid’s Buy a Bale campaign in August 2018. These funds will provide livestock feed and household essentials for drought affected families and communities in every impacted state. This incredible amount would not have been possible without the amazing contributions from many individuals, local businesses and our team. Thank you!
Emergency Services
Bunnings stores support their local emergency services groups throughout the year, and join together to raise funds for local volunteer fire brigades and emergency services through the annual Emergency Services Volunteers BBQ. On Saturday 20 January 2018, through the generous support of customers, volunteers and team members, over $530,000 was raised and contributed nationally.
Schools and Kindergartens
Our stores conduct many of activities with local schools and kindergartens, including our Schools Sustainability Program, Grow Your Own gardening activities and a range of other initiatives.
Local Organisations and Causes
Our support of local organisations and causes include Lions Australia, Rotary, Girl Guides, Scouts Australia, The Salvation Army and Men’s Sheds. Throughout the year stores also completed many activities supporting local sporting groups.

Our team members actively support groups such as Legacy and the RSL. In particular, stores invite local groups in-store to raise funds through the sale of ANZAC badges in April and poppies in November, as well as provide hands-on assistance such as maintaining memorials and shrines.
Senior Citizens, Health and Wellbeing
Local senior citizen groups are assisted through contributions and projects including garden makeovers, upkeep for aged care facilities, Meals on Wheels and D.I.Y. Workshops. Our team members also support local health and wellbeing groups throughout the year.
